Deze zaterdag dansen we om te protesteren voor het behoud van cultuur en de creatieve broedplaats in Breda.

Wat is er aan de hand?
Electron, samen met de stad en een professioneel team, heeft een ontwikkelplan opgesteld om de broedplaats nieuw leven in te blazen. Dit plan omvat een coöperatief model met sociale huurwoningen boven op de culturele broedplaats. Het kost de stad een fractie in vergelijking vergeleken met projecten. Helaas wordt bijna de helft van Electron binnenkort gesloopt door versnelde sloopplannen. Ondanks veel positieve oordelen in de beoordeling van het plan, heeft het college besloten het plan als ‘niet haalbaar’ af te doen, zonder enige opening voor vervolg of toekomstperspectief.

Electron heeft in de afgelopen drie maanden het plan niet met jullie mogen delen voor feedback. Nu ze dat wel kan, is het blijkbaar te laat...

Laten we samen opstaan, dansen en ons laten horen voor een kunstrijk Breda!

Het aantal expositieruimtes en experimenteerplekken in Breda die voor iedereen toegankelijk zijn, raken op. Vraag jezelf eens af, hoeveel plekken zijn er straks nog echt?

Daarom organiseert Lucy ( van de fietsenrave) Zaterdag de PROTEST RAVE 15 JUNI startend om 20:00!

Wat kan je doen om ons te supporten? 

  •  Schrijf een Google review voor Electron Breda en MotMot gallery. Dit valt meteen op bij de gemeente Breda en laat zien hoeveel mensen om deze broedplaats geven en willen dat zij blijft voortbestaan.

  • Steun Lucy met diens burgersessie aanvraag! 
    Burgersessies zijn inspraak momenten die burgers kunnen aanvragen om te spreken met de gemeente raad of college. Om te mogen spreken heeft een burger 50 handtekeningen nodig.

    Zaterdag komt de petitie online.

Dear reader,


I am Lucy Schreurs, and I am organizing a protest this coming Saturday, June 15, to save Electron | MotMot gallery. You might know me from the Fietsenrave.

As some of you know, Electron, together with the city and a professional team, has developed a plan to revive the creative broedplaats. Nearly half of it is set to be demolished in a few weeks due to accelerated demolition plans. This plan offers a cooperative model with social housing on top of the cultural hub. A plan that costs the city almost nothing (or a fraction of what another hub would cost).

Although their review contains many positive assessments alongside the expected areas for improvement, the council has decided to immediately dismiss it as 'not feasible'. No room for follow-up, no future perspective for Electron | MotMot gallery, and no insight into how they envision the future of the Creative Broedplaats.

In the past three months, Electron was not allowed to share the plan with you for feedback. Now that they can, it appears to be too late.

We cannot let this happen! As a proud Electron fan, concerned artist, and passionate advocate for culture, I urge you all to take action and raise your voices against this unjust decision. The number of exhibition spaces and experimental venues in Breda that are accessible to everyone is dwindling! Ask yourself, how many places will really be left soon? Does the municipality really want all creatives to leave? These spaces are crucial for our community because everyone can always go there with questions, find inspiration, or work freely. This is certainly not the vision that Gerrit de Morée had when he co-founded the art academy in Breda. Let’s stand up together, dance, and make ourselves heard for an art-rich Breda.
